Good News & Bad News

Good News - It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be to get up at 5:40 to get to the club for workouts... now that I'm working again.

Bad News - It's 7:35 and I'm ready for bed.

Good News - I left work at lunch time at 12:26pm and got home at 12:27pm.  That's stupid silly and makes me laugh an evil laugh.

Bad News - I hit the only red traffic light on the way back from lunch, so it took two full minutes to get back to work.

Good News - Today I was still confused, but not as much as yesterday.

Bad News - Eventually, Tammy isn't going to be helping me and saving my ars.

Good News - Ryan landed safely in St. Louis, Missouri today.

Bad News - As soon as he lands on Sunday - he's heading back to Pullman.  And my time with ole' blue eyes is over until Summer '12.

Good News - I had the maintenance, do anything and everything guy at work, Ty, take out a lightbulb in the fixture above my desk and it made a huge difference.

Bad News - I'd love to have the other one taken out, but the gal on the other side of my office is against it.  Compromise was good though.

Good News - I'm two for two on my birthdays resolution with cards bought for the other two next week and Starbucks cards to boot.

Bad News - If I lose my job, people with later birthdays are getting kibbles n bits in their handmade cards.

Good News - Did I say it only takes like 3 total minutes to get from and to work during my hour long lunch break?  That's freakin' awesome!

Bad News - I forgot to call my friend "Jennifer" today.  I guess I'll do that now.

Back On My Feet & Another Call From Unemployment... Seriously?

First day and not much time to come up for air.  I was not at my new desk much today so don't have much lay of the land there... but I've met a lot of people, filled out paperwork, and feel like I could somewhat navigate my way around the various programs I'll be using daily.  I kept telling myself - "You will learn this.  You always have before.  You're not THAT old."  But crikey there were moments I wondered if I would get it all down.  In fact, in those moments I found myself wishing my bladder wasn't so dang large so that I could escape to the bathroom for a breath...

When the I.T. guy set up my computer today he told me it was no surprise I was coming, so my email was up and running and filled with 47 emails when I first logged on.  Half of them from my new manager with revisions to contracts and programming that needed to be made.  "Uhhhh Lynn... I know I said I was a quick learner.... but how about you start sending these to me on Day 2... or so.?"  :)

So tonight, Jeff prepared the boys for "Hurricane Mom" and cooked... by sending cash with Ry to get some pizza.  Not just any pizza, but the pizza mom loves.  So we munched on Famous Eds/David's Pizza and I filled him in on the what's, when's etc.  But before that, I was set at ease when my oldest texted wanting to know if the dishes in the dishwasher were dirty (shrug) and after a few exchanges I figured he had figured it all out.  He was beaming when he got home from dinner with friends tonight that he had taken the time to clean up their dishes today... what he didn't relay is how he left the entire loaf of bread on the counter, in reach of my cat-dogs.  So... we're one loaf shy for sandwiches this week and you can believe that.  If you question it, just come sit next to any one of those thieves and you're sure to be able to smell...

On a less than desirable note - I had a message from my asian friend Jennifer with the Unemployment Department.  It seems my previous supervisor told them that I no-showed for work on the 9th of September... the day they DID NOT pay me for.  ANNNNDDDD... that I'd already told "Jennifer" (if that's her real name) that I did not go on the 9th as originally anticipated because LISA POPLAWSKI told me if I wrapped up my projects and was "done" not to stick around twiddling my thumbs.  (Meaning, don't cost me more money by having nothing to do.)  Anyhow... I get to leave "Jennifer" a voice message with whether what Lisa stated was in fact truth or fiction.

My advice to you is - if you EVER feel like you might need to claim unemployment... EVER...  consider theft instead.  Probably easier and if caught, you'd probably serve time and STILL get out before anything was approved!  Egads!

PICK ONE already!

CONGRATS JEFFREY DAVID MINNERLY FOR YET ANOTHER ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENT!

Found A Penny... Picked It Up...

You know the saying:  Find a penny, pick it up, all day long, you'll have good luck.

Technically, I found the penny in the Rosauers parking lot AFTER I received a phone call with a job offer this morning - but I picked it up anyhow!  I figured the "good luck" could fold the laundry downstairs, do the dishes the boys left me in the sink, and just get the house in order before I head off to my new job tomorrow.

My jobs keep getting closer and closer to home... so I think it's safe to say that I'll be working from home at some point in the future - and no, I'm not referring to laundry, dishes, dinner, etc.  I'm hopeful that this means "they" are closer to perfecting Money Tree's so that we can plant some in our back 40 and my job will be to "harvest" them.  I could totally dig that job.

But until that time I will be the KAYU TV Regional & KCYU/KFFX TV National Sales Assistant. I originally applied for the Traffic Assistant, but that was filled by a current employee opening up this position.  She was ready for a change of pace, but wanted to stay with the company.  The thing I've heard about this place is longevity is "in"... so that's a great thing to walk in to.

Salary, benefits... peace of mind.  This new year is already shaping up!  Oh... and casual attire with "beyond" casual Fridays?  I can dig it... unless of course "beyond casual" means pajamas...

All I know is Jeff is rumored to have been doing cartwheels at Family Home Care this morning.  But then, so was I... this means I get to go shopping for clothes orrrr... shoes.  Yes sirree.

Starbucks, "Dexter", Laundry... Oh My!

I didn't pick up my daily Starbucks yesterday... Jeff did that.  He went to the club to play raquetball and while I was much much MUCH better after the effects of the Thursday, 5:30 AM weight class - I decided to finish cleaning up after our New Years' Eve soiree.

So today - after my workout, I went through the Starbucks drive thru.  Ordered my usual and  inched forward as one by one, the cars ahead of me got their drinks.  When I got to the window, I asked what the person behind me ordered and was told the two drinks they ordered.  Then I asked what the person behind THEM ordered and was told a grande chai tea.  That ended up being wrong... but I didn't know it at that point.  In fact, in looking in my rearview mirror and seeing at least three people in the car, I was surprised.  Just the same, I told my little Starbucks gal I was going to pay for both cars orders.  She asked if I knew them - "Nope".  I just like to do this from time to time.  Usually not two cars deep, but it's a new year, why not?

It did turn out though, that when she thought that the second car just had the one drink, well - that was actually an indoor order.  The car 2 back actually had a $13 dollar order.  BUT, thanks to me being a Starbucks Gold Card carrying member... it was more like $10.56.  It's a new year and that always feels good to do!

On to "Dexter".  We finished the 6th season last night.  First we went to see "We Bought a Zoo" and when we got home we plowed through episodes 7... 8...9...10...11... and 12.  People... these are 50-53 minutes long each.  But the further we got in, the more we had to continue on.  Fortunately for me, I didn't have to go to work today.  But Big Papa did.  He said a few swear words this morning when the alarm went off... and then again when he woke up again LATER and realized he was now running behind.  I simply can't believe we have to wait for Season 7.  I can't believe the ending of Season 6.  I was not so gung ho on one part of this season with regards to Dexters' sister.  But I know at least 5 of you are still playing catch up so I won't say more.

You can buy Dexters KILL uniform on Showtime.com...  Friggin' AWESOME!

Laundry.

Ryan came home from snowmobiling... Zach heads back to school tomorrow.  Ryan needs clothes ironed, bought, etc for his trip to St. Louis.  So much to do and about 18 piles downstairs to do.  Ugh.  Laundry.  Hopefully I'll finish it in time to write something here on January 3rd...  I'm serious.

What Will I Do Without Dexter?

Tonight we are finishing "Dexter". 6 episodes of the show... The finale and certainly no time for blogging. Until January 2, 2012
